JAMAICA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS
There are three international airports in Jamaica: Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, and Ian Fleming International Airport in Ocho Rios.
Sangster International Airport ]
Montego Bay airport in Jamaica is Sangster International or MBJ, considered the gateway to the Caribbean, and it is located in Montego Bay, the main entry point for most tourists. When traveling to Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, or Negril, it is the recommended entry point.
This airport is well-established, serving 9 million people yearly, which means all the amenities are well cared for, so you don’t have to worry about anything. Taxis, hotel shuttles, and car rental companies are available upon arrival to assist you to your destination.
And if you’re flying in on a private jet, it’s all good because Sangster International Airport has a private jet area with Immigration and Customs available.
Norman Manley International Airport
Norman Manley International Airport is located in Kingston, the capital and largest city in Jamaica. A diverse hub is a good option if you visit the capital city, Port Antonio, or the Blue Mountains.
However, it isn’t a common choice for tourists. Mainly, the airport is used by locals or business travelers. But if you do arrive at this airport for business or pleasure, ground transportation (car rentals, taxis, tour operators) is available to take you straight to downtown or business centers.
Ian Fleming International Airport
Ian Fleming International Airport is Jamaica’s newest airport. Famously named after the British author of the James Bond novels, it is located in Boscobel, close to Ocho Rios, in northern Jamaica.
Located only 10 km from the city of Ocho Rios, getting to your beachfront hotel and resort district is as simple as hopping into a taxi or renting a car. Although convenient, most people still choose to arrive at Sangster International Airport before heading to Ocho Rios.
Despite being an international airport, very little is known about this single-terminal facility. And you will not find many international flights using it as an arrival point of entry. But if you do, it is a great option.
